What 2 Eat Wednesday – The Cold Edition

06 Feb

Usually every Wednesday I write a post about what I’ve been eating lately and I pass along the recipe to you.  But this week is going to be a little different, simply for the fact that I am under the weather with a nasty cold.  My throat feels like someone has taken sandpaper and a blow torch to it and I’m on the verge of getting a headache the size of Everest.

Too much tea time.

Too much tea time.

Although I love using my Bodum tea-pot from Denmark, I’ve drunk so much tea that I might as well keep the toilet on auto flush!  (sorry, I know, TMI)  But I am using tons of honey so I’ll be extra sweet this week!  Awww….

So instead of giving you some outrageously delicious recipe post filled with mouth-watering photos I’m turning the table on you.  I’m asking you to tell me “What 2 Eat” for this cold of mine.  What is your tried and true throat soother?  What is the best food to combat congestion?  Do you have any of Grandma’s secret recipes that will whip my body back to health?

Feel free to comment and then repost this (or share on Facebook or Twitter) and if I get enough responses I’ll put them all together in another post for all of us to reference when the nasty cold bug strikes.

On a better note I do have an appointment at the spa tomorrow!  That’s what happens when I decide to clean my side of our bedroom.  I found not one but three gift certificates!!!

Free rest and relaxation!

Free rest and relaxation!

One was for $50 at the spa which I’m using tomorrow.  Another was for a full day treatment that includes a manicure, pedicure, facial and massage!  Score!  I’m using that one after my half marathon.  Perfect timing.  And the last one is $10 for a local Mexican restaurant so I’ll hit it up for lunch one day this week. You’re probably thinking, “How messy is her room?”.  That’s what I would think too, but it is mostly papers and books next to my nightstand.  Thank goodness I cleaned it up! (If you look closely one of the G.C.’s is from 2008!! LOL LOL)

Have you ever lost a G.C. only to find it later?  How old was it and were you still able to use it?

Please help me out with this stinkin’ cold!  All advice is completely appreciated!

Thanks Tina! I bought a new tea today called “Organic Cold 911″ so here’s hoping that it does the trick.

Well, I am sure you are already taking your Energy Bits, but have you tried the Recovery Bits? We keep them around here to stay healthy. Also, I love juicing fresh orange juice when I am under the weather. The extra vitamin C always does me good.
    Hope you feel better soon!

No, I haven’t tried the Recovery Bits yet but I’m sure that will be my next order. Do you have an electric juicer? Do you find you use it a lot? Thanks for the help and have a great weekend!
